Galaxy Sports Trust

Galaxy Sports Trust (GST) was established in 2004 as a charitable trust and the legal entity that exists with respect to managing the governance of all things Galaxy.

As a legal entity and trust, the Galaxy Sports Trust has trustees who have certain legal obligations, governance responsibilities, and accountabilities.

GST applies for funding on behalf of Galaxy Touch and Galaxy Touch Worldwide. It also incurs all costs in relation to running the club (eg. event costs, website development, venue hire, equipment, balls, tents and merchandise)


Galaxy Touch

This is our respective brand name, representing the teams and modules that affiliate to the Galaxy Touch club.


Galaxy Touch Worldwide

This is our global connection brand and entity, it is used when referring to our global Galaxy affiliates, family & whanui.

Our Trustees


Peter Walters

(Trustee since 2004)

Peter has had a full work life history with a large part of it involving health and well being and sport. He has a passion and drive for getting the best out of his athletes, coaches and teams he works with. “I have learnt that as a coach you must inform and empower your athletes and give them the required tools to complement their own talents whereby they can confidently go out into their environments and perform, making good decisions and having a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities”. Peter sits on a couple of local community boards and still remains active in the sport of Touch through his various volunteer roles and his Sportcoach business, both here in NZ and worldwide.


Paul Rewha

(Trustee since 2004)

Paul has been involved with the Galaxy Touch Club for over three decades, beginning his journey as a player in 1993 and later being appointed as a Trustee in 2004. His long association with the club reflects a sustained commitment to its people, values, and ongoing development.

Throughout his playing career, he has represented Auckland in both Open and Masters grades and has also been selected for New Zealand. He has been part of teams that have achieved success at national and international level, including winning the NSW Open Men’s State Cup in Australia and securing an Open Mixed title with Galaxy at the USA Nationals in 2017. These achievements are regarded as collective successes shared with teammates.

He remains actively engaged in the development of the game at grassroots level through the Pohutukawa Coast module, where he supports the committee in coaching, organisation, and programme delivery for players and families.

Outside of touch rugby, Paul has held senior leadership roles within the corporate sector and has contributed at governance level as a board member of United Fresh NZ and the 5+ A Day Charitable Trust. The Trust works nationally to promote healthy eating and increase the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables through education and marketing initiatives and is supported by ambassadors including Dame Lisa Carrington.


Craig Coulter

(Trustee since 2004)

Craig is a former NZ Touch representative and President of Galaxy Auckland since 2003, He has worked in the Justice Sector for over 12 years and has also been involved in Sports Administration in both touch and International Secondary School Netball. Craig is passionate about the game of touch, in particular seeing youth achieve their potential on and off the field. He enjoys seeing our Masters players continuing to participate to a high competitive level even into their senior years, leading by example to their tamariki (children) and mokopuna (grandchildren).


Evelyn Tudehope

(Trustee since 2020)

Evelyn (aka Mainz) is a high-performance coach and leader who works with organisations, teams and people to grow talent, drive innovation, and experiment towards delivering more fulfilling outcomes. In the Touch arena, she has played and coached at an elite level in many grades for the Cook Islands and New Zealand. The 1995 World Cup in Hawaii was the first World Cup she attended, with her most recent being the 2019 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. Evelyn’s connection to Galaxy stems back to her late teens. It has created many opportunities for personal growth, life-changing experiences and the forging of life-long friendships.


Stephen Freundlich

(Trustee since 2019)

Stephen’s working career spans 25 years across banking, stock broking and corporate environments. He has coached junior rugby at Ponsonby Rugby as well as junior provincial teams for Auckland Touch. More recently he was involved with Mt Albert Grammar junior rugby, junior touch and senior mixed touch teams. As a player, Steve played social touch in his younger days before accidentally finding himself playing for the Auckland 45’s mens team in 2018 and then made the NZ45 men’s team for the 2019 Touch World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, winning a silver medal. He is working on playing nationals in 2023 and has an eye on the 2024 world cup!


Ben Bartlett

(Trustee since 2021)

Ben is a master strategist and strategic advisor who works with large corporates and Small & Medium Enterprises (SME’s). Ben has a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), specialising in Strategic Thinking. And he performs ongoing research in the areas of strategy and intangible asset management. Alongside his professional career, Ben has served more than 30 years working with youth in roles such as church youth leader, scout leader, outdoor education instructor and sports/fitness coach.  Ben is a strong health and fitness advocate, has played touch to international level, and still enjoys running around with his Galaxy team mates.
